Brullov Karl Pavlovich

Brullov Karl Pavlovich (1799, Petersburg - 1852, Marchiano, near Rome).

Professor of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Member of several Italian academies. Known as a first-rate painter of Romanticism. Brilliant portrait painter and master of grand parade and intimate psychological portrait. Studied at Academy of Arts (1809-1921) under A.I. Ivanov and A.E. Egorov. Took part in decorating of St. Isaac Cathedral in St. Petersburg. His artworks can be found in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
