Bazhenov Alexander Vladimirovich (1904-1973).
Graphic, illustrator, cartoonist, poster artist. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR. He studied at Vhutemas. As an illustrator, he began working in the 1920s. Collaborated with the magazines "Funny Pictures" and "Crocodile", the newspapers "Pravda" and "Trud". In the 1930s, he regularly placed cartoons in the popular newspaper For Industrialization. During the Great Patriotic War he worked as a military correspondent for the army newspapers of the First Byelorussian Front "For Fatherland" and "Combat Appeal". In the postwar years, A.V. Bazhenov illustrated children's books, including S.V. Mikhalkov "Themselves to blame" (1963), "Pobasenki" (1966). Collaborated with the publishing house "Izogiz", "Soviet Russia"; sketched sketches of postcards, made political posters. Participated in a large-scale exhibition "Poster and Satire for 40 years in the works of Moscow artists" (1958). In 1962 in the publication of "Crocodile" came out a collection of caricatures of the artist.
