Vanloo Karl (Charles-Andre) (1705-1765).

Academician. Master of French rococo. Studied in Rome under Benedetto Luti during 1727-1732 at French Academy in Rome. During 1732-1734 worked for the King of Sardinia. In 1735 was awarded the title of academician, in 1737 - the title of professor. First painter to the King (1762), director of the Academy (1763-1765). In 1771 a famous art connoisseur D. Didro advised Catherine the Great to purchase Vanloo’s works, His artworks can be found in the Hermitage collection, as well as in many European museums.
