Dorokhov Konstantin Gavrilovich

Alumnus of Higher Artistic-Technical Institute (1923-30) where he was a student of D. Sterenberg, P. Pavlinov and A. Shevchenko. Son of well-known Smolensk photographer. Studied first in Smolensk where his teachers were V. Shtranikh, N. Yablonskiy and B. Rybchenkov. Known as a master of lyrical landscape painting and author of female portraits: Paratrooper, Student, Miner, Nenets Girl with a Book and Shura Tyan. Began exhibiting in 1933. Dorokhov’s personal shows took place in Moscow in 1938, 1943, 1950, 1956, 1964. Dorokhov’s works are exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and at the state art museums in Chelyabinsk, Kostroma, Smolensk, Novorossiysk and Sebastopol. After his dearth his widow and son donated his more than 300 works to the museum in Smolensk.
