Zakharov Gury Philippovich

Honoured Artist of Russia (1968), an Active Member of the Arts Academy (1991). The laureate of the RSFSR State I.E. Repin Prize (1981). Studied at Moscow Fine Arts and Crafts Academy (MVPHU) under E.S. Teys (1946-1954). His creativity was influenced by V.A. Favorsky. Specializes in gravure, etching, painting and watercolor techniques. A participant of exhibitions since 1957. In 1967 was awarded the USSR silver medal of Academy of Arts for his series of landscapes created in mid 1960th. Participated in many youth, Moscow, All-Soviet and foreign art exhibitions. His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1962, 1967, 1971 and 1974) and many other cities of the country, as well as in Rome (1962). The painter’s works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many other regional museums.
