Johann Wilhelm Hahl

Johann Wilhelm Hahl (1803, Kassel – 1880, Kassel).

German artist and etcher. Worked as a portraitist in historical painting. J. W. Hahl is an artist Johann August Nahl’s son and apprentice (1752-1825). Also, he studied from a Kassel portraitist Sebastian Weygandt. During 1823-1825 continued his study in the Royal School of Fine Arts in Paris. J.W. Hahl creative development was much influenced by French painting, namely Oras Verne’s. Lived in Kassel and worked for the prince-elector Wilhelm II.
