Kramskoy Ivan Nikolaevich

Kramskoy Ivan Nikolaevich (1837, Voronezh Guberniya - 1887, St. Petersburg).

Russian painter, critic and art theorist. In 1857 entered the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. The initiator of the “Riot of the Fourteen” (1863). Headed the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions (1870). Worked as a portrait painter. During 1863-1868 Kramskoy gave lessons in the Painting school of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists. His artworks can be found in the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
