Karev Vasiliy Vasilevich (1886 – 1970).
Painter, graphic artist.
Studied at the Studio of P. I. Kelin in Moscow (1908–1909), MUZHVZ (1908–1915) with A. E. Arkhipov, K. A. Korovin, N. A. Kasatkin, S. V. Malyutin, F. A Malyavina.
He painted genre and historical paintings on the themes of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. He repeatedly went on creative business trips to places of industrial construction in Siberia, the Urals, and the North.
Founding member and permanent exhibitor of the AKhRR - AKhR (1922–1931). Participated in exhibitions: the Association of Siberian Artists in Tomsk (1915), the USSR art and handicraft exhibition in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit (1929), “XV Years of the Red Army” (1933), “Industry of Socialism” (1947) in Moscow, “Artists of the RSFSR for XV years” in Leningrad (1932–1933) and others.
The artist’s works are presented in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Art Museum of the Altai Territory and others.
