Lvov Piotr Ivanovich (1882, Tobolsk – 1944, Perm).
He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture under S.A. Korovin, V.P. Backsheev, S.V. Ivanov (1898-1904), then at the Academy of Arts (until 1913) and at the F.A. Rouboud’s studio of battle-painting, where N.S. Samokish was his teacher. He first exhibited in 1909. He was a member of the Young Artists’ Union, the World of Art, the Moscow Painters, the Four Arts, the New Society of Artists, the Moscow Society of Art Lovers, the Moving Art Exhibitions Association, the Group of Artists, and participated in exhibitions of these associations. A gifted draughtsman, he created numerous sketches of landscape and everyday life. He taught drawing at the VKHUTEMAS (1924-1929), at the Academy of Arts (1933-1935), at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (1935-1941). The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in many other museums and private collections.
