Melnikov Andrei Pavlovich (1852-1930).

Painter, ethnographer and a historian of the Povolzhye Region. Son of writer P.I. Melnikov-Pecherskiy. Studied at the Moscow College of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture, then at the Academy of Arts. Graduated in 1883 as an unclassed artist. Known as one of the founders of the Nizhniy Novgorod Society of Art Lovers. Conducted several researches in history of the Povolzhye ethnography.
