Nickolaev Yaroslav Sergeevich (1899–1978)
Soviet painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1956). People's Artist of the RSFSR (1975). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1932).
In 1915–1917 he attended a two-year painting school and studied in the private studio of Kazimir Zelenovsky, a student of Claude Monet. Since 1930 he lived and worked in Leningrad. Since 1932 - member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. Participant of exhibitions since 1927. During the war he remained in besieged Leningrad and participated in the production of anti-Hitler propaganda posters. After the war, he headed the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists (1948–1951). The artist’s works are in the State Russian Museum, in many regional museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and other countries.
