Ocheretko Yakov Emelyanovich (1916 - 1996).

Painter. Member of Union of Artists of USSR.

Born March 27, 1916 in Mikolaivka farm in Termi village of Lubenskoi region of Poltava district in a landowner’s family. Graduated Shershnevsk service school (1928-1931). In 1933 he learned a carpenter trade and worked at “Sickle and hammer” factory. Later the artist attended evening courses in Kharkov community college and when he passed them he enrolled in Kharkov Artistic Institute at Pictorial Art faculty (1939-1941). In 1948 Yakov Ocheretko graduated Kiev State Art Institute, historical easel painting faculty. His degree work was “A meeting of Kovpak with Fedorov in Pripyat”. In 1948 by the Institute assignment Yakov Emelyanovich began work in Kosovo Arts and Craft College as a teacher of drawing and painting. During 1950-1965 the artist held classes of pictorial art in Vizhnitsk Arts and Craft College. From 1965 became a member of Chernovitsk Art studios.
