Repin Yuriy Ilyich

Repin Yuriy Ilyich (1877, Chuguyevo, Kharkov province - 1954, Helsinki).

Ilya Repin’s son Yuriy Repin was a painter himself, specializing in large-size history and military painting and portraits. He studied at the Tenishev Studio from 1894 till 1899, from 1899 to 1903 at the Russian Academy of Arts, in Ilya Repin’s studio and later under D. Kardovsky. From 1900 on he regularly participated in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, the Union of Russian Artists (1908-1911,1913), the Association of the Independent (1911,1913), the Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions (1914-1918), in the Munich International Exhibition (1910) etc. In 1915 he joined the Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions. Yuriy Repin picked up the slack of his father’s work and made pictures on evangelical themes. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Repin House Museum, the Prague National Gallery, and in private collections in Russia and abroad.
