A well-known Ukrainian artist-satirist. Studied at Odessa (1904-07) and Kiev (1907-12) art schools. In 1912-18 studied painting at Stavropol gymnasia. In 1922 Umansky moved to Kharkov, where he worked in “Proletarian” newspaper, and since 1942 till death in “Pepper” magazine. Today the works of the artist are in expositions and collections of museums, galleries and private collections of Ukraine, Russia, Europe and America.
