Feshin Nikolai Ivanovich (1881, Kazan – 1955, Saint-Monica, near Los Angeles).
Painter and teacher. In 1895-1900 studied at Kazan Art School, then at Academy of Arts in Petersburg in the I.E. Repin’s studio (1900-1909). In 1908 was awarded the 1st prize in the competition named after A.I.Kuindzhi for the picture “Cheremisskaya svadba”, in 1909 – obtained the title of the artist and awarded pensioner trip abroad. Since 1909 lived in Kazan, worked as a form-master in still life and nature classes at Kazan Art School. His personal exhibition was held in Art Institute of Chicago in 1923. In 1981 N.I. Feshin Institute was founded in the House of Artists in Taos. The artist’s works are exhibited in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in many regional museums of Russia.
