November 24rd - December 7th 2006. The exhibition of A.A. Tutunov “My Russia”.

Since November 24th till December 7th the SOVCOM Gallery will hold an exhibition of People's Artist of Russia, Acting Member of Russian Academy of Arts, Andrey Andreyevich Tutunov. Here you will find more than 80 pictures by one of the most prominent artists of Moscow Art School whose works are displayed at the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum, as well as in Europe, the USA and represented in private collections. All kinds of genres reflecting many-sided Master’s creativity will be exposed. Apart from landscapes, portraits and village life scenes, the religious pictures will be presented as well. Artist’s speculation on Russia’s destiny, its past and present, are reflected in the symbolic composition “Folk’s Motif”, 1980, creating the conceptual dominant of the exhibition. The masterpiece provides a viewer with a visual comprehension, which the artist is eager to express using his brush. The conception of God-Blessed-Russia, expressed in “Folk’s Motif” is the feature of other master’s works, not related to this subject at first sight. The landmarks of Ancient Russian Art in Tutunov’s landscapes reminds the public of the rich history of the native land, its past, and hope for spiritual renewal in future, which is floating in the sky. The deep ideas of the artist are reflected in such pictures as "Mirozhskiy Monastery Church”, 1965 and “Goritskiy Monastery in Winter”, 2004. Approximately half of his exhibited pictures are dedicated to landscape. The numerous views of Russian scenery and plains show reverent master’s attitude to imaging places of Russia. The artist praises the simple beauty of Middle-Russian nature in such works as “Autumn Oaks” 1985, “Kaluga’s Woods” 1969, “Smoky Spring” 2004, “Dying Day” 2004, “Green Grass in May” 1950, “Autumn in Paromonovo” 1951, “Calm Winter” 2002. The viewer can not only admire the Tutunov’s scenery but his interest to folks living in neighbourhood. The conception of Russian Village, countrymen’s life, their habits and characters disclosure is a special motif, is an integral part of the artist’s early oeuvre survived up to the present. This idea is embodied in the following pictures: “Morning in the Village” 1978, “Potato Pickers” 2003, “House and Barn with Wood” 2003, “Landscape with Goats” 2005, “Rural Girl” 1962. The masterpieces presented at the exhibition shall be of interest to judges of modern painting; the audience will be introduced to the newest artist’s works and give a more complete idea of the master’s creative quest.
