Coloristic gamma of bouquets shows us the depth of coloring and knowledge of the nuances that is inherented to Viktor Borzov. No accident that there are valued and polyphonic word “vision” in the title of exhibition. You can see this amazing ability of tonal vision in all his works. Borzov longs to save a faith to the traditions of art, comes to the fullness of perception of the world and the maximum uses opportunities of his rich palette. There is pronounced formal referral in Russian history of art. There were painters, who can be called “governmental”: artists from AkhRR (Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia) in 1930s. or craftsmen of “austere style” in 1950s.-1960s. The main theme of their works was a social significance and importance of their pictures. Also there was a line of “unadmitted”, “inoficcial” art. It had a main purpose to oppose itself to the society. And…. There were always some people who was walking away from the main art mainstreams, who adhered to their own way in art, that didn’t bring any dividents in the form of ranks, money, popularity. Viktor Borzov belongs to these group of painters. Today he reminisces: “Those days painters had to draw “thematic” pictures – about work, factories, paty. But I couldn’t do it, that is why I continued to draw my landscapes.” Borzov’s destiny is very typical for a Soviet boy of pre-war generation. He was born in Tambov Province in 1922. His parents had to run away from the collective farming to the village near Moscow. In childhood Viktor participated in a study groups and took one of Grand Prix in All-Russia Children’s Painting Competition in 1938. Other coming founders of “austere style” took trophys with him: Ivanov, Korzhev, Tkachev brothers. Almost all the winners entered Moscow Art School, but Victor didn’t, because he was dissuaded by parents. He didn’t entered anywhere because in 1940 no boys acceptet to universities. He went to work to the defense plant, and it saved his life, because he didn’t go to army. Borzov says, that there are not a lot of boys of his year birth survived. During evacuation he begun to draw “visual propaganda”, after returning he ended Pedagogical University and then was working as a teatcher of art for a long time. He was studying in Georgij Guk-Kravchenko’s studio (who was Ilya Repin’s student). And he still reminisces with a great respect his teatcher, who taught him to see color. This time he met with such acknowledged masters of Soviet art as Konstantin Yuon, Alexandr Bubnov, Petr Konchalovskij and Aleksandr Gerasimov. Borzov reminisces: “I showed some pictures to one artist and some for another, because they were different painters, but all of them gave me one advice: “continue to work with color”. That is the way Viktor Borzov works up to now, in his 88 years old he lives and works in a little house in the country near Ruza. Landscapes of environs, floral still life from his own garden, again and again. Summer replaces spring, morning transforms into evening. It’s amasing, how sky constantly changes it’s color. Lilac bush or a boquet of favorite sword-grass lily – in different color-light systems of axes looks very different. Borzov tries to catch this differental. And he obtains it.
