Velikanov Alexander Petrovich

Velikanov Alexander Petrovich (1900−1955)

Soviet architect. Member of the Union of Architects of the USSR (1934). Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Architecture (1950). In 1922 he entered the Leningrad Higher Art and Technical Institute at the Faculty of Architecture, where his teachers were famous architects: V.G. Gelfreich, V.A. Shchuko, I.A. Fomin, L.V. Rudnev, S.S. Serafimov and others. In 1933 he moved to Moscow as part of a group of designers of the Palace of Soviets, headed by V.A. Shchuko and V.G. Gelfreich. Since the 1930s, he taught at the Leningrad Institute of Municipal Construction Engineers, then at the Moscow Architectural Institute. The architect's projects were implemented in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kyiv, Stalingrad, Ashgabat, Warsaw and Petrozavodsk.
