Nikolsky Georgy Evlampievich (1906-1973)

Soviet animal painter. Honored Artist of the RSFSR. After graduating from university, he starts working as an illustrator. His first independent book, "The Land of Animals" by Vitaly Bianchi, was published in 1935, at the same time his drawings appeared in the magazine "Murzilka". Since the mid-1940s, he has become one of the most demanded animal painters: from 1944 to 1949, 35 books illustrated by Nikolsky were published. Among the authors: L. Tolstoy, D. Mamin-Sibiryak, E. Seton-Thompson, M. Prishvin, V. Bianki, P. Manteifel, G. Skrebitsky, V. Chaplina ... He also collaborated with the studio "Filmstrip", for which he made a series of drawings for the filmstrip based on the book by R.Kipling "Mowgli".
