Shaikhet Arkady Samoylovich (1898 – 1959)
Soviet photographer, one of the founders of Soviet photo reportage, master of documentary photography.
In 1922-1924 he worked as a retoucher in the private photography "Rembrandt" in Moscow. From 1923 he worked in the editorial office of the weekly magazine "Moskovsky Proletariy". From 1924 he collaborated with the magazines "Ogonyok", "USSR in Construction", "Nashi Dostizheniya".
Since 1925 - participant in exhibitions. In 1928 he participated in the all-Union photo exhibition "Soviet Photography in 10 Years", where he was awarded a first-degree diploma.
During the Great Patriotic War, he took a lot of pictures at the front as a correspondent for the newspaper "Frontovaya Illusion". Shaikhet's photographs were published in the newspapers "Pravda", "Krasnaya Zvezda", "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
In the post-war years, he worked for the magazine "Ogonyok".
