Works that are present at the exhibition show a full image of the formation and development of the unofficial wave in Russian art on the works of artists who are the central figures of this movement.

The central part of the exhibition is two series of paintings by Mikhail Shemyakin. The first pictorial series - "Vessels" and "Bottles". The works are performed with rare technical sophistication, with relief, in cracks and full transfer of the texture. Also, a graphic series of large-scale works depicting butchers' figures dragging carved carcasses, people are almost hidden under the bodies, and this creates an ominously phantasmagoric appearance. Particular interest arises to one of the most significant works of Oleg Tselkov "The Couple" (Oil on canvas, 275x400, 1995 ). At first glance, the giant characters of Tselkov amaze with their monumentality and sculptural. It looks like they are not painted with liquid oil paints, but quite real sculpted from coloured clay. Colour bears a tremendous burden in the works of Tselkov. From the very first steps, the artist throws away all the muffled, transitional colours from his palette and focuses on the main spectral ones: light blue, dark blue and violet. Unexpected combinations sometimes create disharmony but at the same time create beautiful and powerful effect dragging into itself.

The exhibition also presents some significant works of the brightest and most mysterious figures in the Russian art culture of the late twentieth century - Leonid Purygin, representatives of the "Lianozovo Group" - Oscar Rabin and Vladimir Nemukhin, works by Dmitry Plavinsky and works of classical conceptual art by Viktor Pivovarov and Ilya Kabakov.

The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 till 18.00 and on weekends - by prior arrangement. We attract works to our September auction in which most of the paintings presented at the exhibition will be included.
