“Antiquary Brought to Light. Myths and Reality of the National Market. By Nadezhda Nazarevskaya. The Culture, No. 41(7551), October 19-25, 2006.

The current year has cut all the records in number of auctions ever taken per year. April and June, 2006 reached the peak of activity. In September the SOVCOM advanced a new type of collections and succeeded in auctioning graphics, posters, sculptures and porcelain arts. A small metal figure of a classical Soviet steelmaker created by Valeriy Evdokimov, as a cast work of authorship, was purchased for $5.000 “The Scared Nymph” by Nina Zamakhina – a very talented modern sculptor, was purchased by a tenant of spacious apartments just for $ 500, though it had been estimated at $1.000. In order to accustom new connoisseurs to such a complicated form of art the organizers fall back on downward adjustment. Usually, sculpture artworks are not in demand at all, since it requires large space for its allocation.
