Kuznetsov Konstantin Vasilievich (1886 - 1943)

Russian and Soviet artist, book illustrator, engraver, cartoonist. One of the first illustrators of fairy tales in Soviet Russia. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He worked mainly in the technique of engraving on cardboard invented by him. As an illustrator, he collaborated with the magazines Krasnaya Niva, Funny Pictures, and Murzilka. Designed books for the publishing houses "GIZ", "Detgiz", "Young Guard", "Peasant Newspaper", "Pravda", "Soviet Writer". Participated in various all-Union and foreign exhibitions, including the International Exhibition "The Art of the Book" in Leipzig and Nuremberg (1927), exhibitions of Soviet graphics in Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm and Gothenburg (1934) and in New York (1940). In 1949, a memorial exhibition of Kuznetsov's works was held in Moscow. The artist's works are presented in many museum collections, including the Pushkin Museum im. A. S. Pushkin and the State Russian Museum.
