Perelman Viktor Nikolayevich (1892, LIPETSK – 1967, MOSCOW)
Studied at the Bogoliubovo Drawing School in Saratov (1910-1912), then at the Moscow Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under A.E. Arkhipov, N.A. Kasatkin, K.A. Korovin and S.V. Maliutin (1915-1919).
In 1918-1922 worked in Saratov as the representative of Arts Department of the People’s Commissariat on Education and the Rector of the Saratov Arts and Applied Arts Institute, later on in Moscow. Was one of the founders of the Association of Artists of Russia (AHR), one of the first acting members of the Association, having been the Chairman of it.. Entered the ‘Artists-Painters Trade-Union’ (1918), ‘The Moscow School Painters Association’ (1923).
Was the initiator of creation of the ‘Federation of the Soviet Artists Association’ (later – the ‘Artists Union’, member of Presidium).
Participated in the Agitation Propaganda Project in Saratov in 1918-1920. Permanent participant of All-Union Exhibitions since 1923. Exposed at the first Mobile Exhibition of Painting and Drawing in Moscow (1929), exhibition ‘The Artists of RSFSR for 15 years’ as well as the Venice Biennale in 1932. Painted mostly portraits and genre works. The industrial thematic was taking a considerable part in the artist’s work. The paintings of V.N. Perelman are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many regional Museums.
