Solovev Nikolai Vasilevich

Solovev Nikolai Vasilevich (1905 - 1969).

Born in Vernii city (Alma-Ata since 1921). Studied at Vernii normal school, also at Nikolai Gavrilovich Khludov’s studio, who was also a teacher of Semen Chuikov, Soviet Art classic. During prewar years N. Solovev illustrated medical brochures and posters for people’s commissariat of healthcare service. Alongside with artistic activity he became a philharmonic solo performer. While the Great Patriotic War N. Solovev went up the line as part of a front line artists brigade. Upon return to Alma-Ata the artist served in border troops’ ensemble of singing and dancing folk. Member of Union of Artists of USSR. From 1951 taught at Alma-Ata fine arts college named after N.V. Gogol. Participated in republican, regional and all-union exhibitions. His artworks are kept in Central Border Museum of the Russian Federal Security Service, State Museum of Arts of Republic of Kazakhstan, in private collections.
