Stepanov Vadim Dmitrievich (1928–2013)
Graduated from the Moscow Art and Industrial College named after. Kalinin in Moscow in 1951, specializing as an artist of folk crafts in painting and miniatures.
After graduating from college in 1951, he entered the Moscow Regional Art Foundation and began working at the Art Works Plant in Khimki, Moscow Region, under creative contracts. At the request of various organizations, he painted large canvases, to work on which he had to frequently go on business trips to collect material for the painting. Since then, his entire life and creative activity has been connected with a group of artists in the Moscow region.
Since 1952, he has been a regular participant in youth, regional, zonal, republican and all-Union art exhibitions as an easel painting artist. At the second and third youth exhibitions in 1952 and 1953. participates in large works “Bully” and “Evening Sails”, which were noted by the jury and recommended for reproduction.
In the works of V. Stepanov one can feel the tireless search for one’s own paths in art, the desire for philosophical knowledge of life and nature.
Member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1963.
In the 1960s, as a result of creative trips to the North, many of the artist’s works dedicated to the Russian North appeared.
Since the mid-1980s, V. Stepanov, mastering the technique of wall painting, has been actively involved in the restoration of Orthodox churches in Russia and neighboring countries. His frescoes decorate the churches of the Pochaev Lavra and Sevastopol in Ukraine, the villages of Obraztsovo and the Moscow region, in the cities of Novosibirsk and Karaganda, as well as in Mordovia.
The works of V.D. Stepanov are kept in museums and private collections in Russia, the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Greece.
