Gaponenko Taras Gurevich (1906-1993)

Painter. People's Artist of the USSR (1976), laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1947). In 1924-1930. studied at the Higher Art and Technical Institute with N.M., Chernyshev, V.A. Favorsky, K.N. Istomin. In 1929 he joined the Association of Artists of the Revolution. In 1939, together with A.A. Plastov and A.P. Bubnov participated in the creation of the panel "Notable people of the Land of the Soviets" for the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in New York. All-Union fame and European fame for the artist was brought by the work "For Dinner with Mothers" (1935), which was a great success in Paris at an international art exhibition in 1937 and was awarded the Gold Medal. The personal exhibition of the artist took place in Moscow in 1996. The works are kept in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Russian Art in Kyiv, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Central Museum of the Russian Army.
