Gorokhovsky Eduard Semyonovich (1929 - 2004)

Soviet artist, classic of Moscow conceptualism, founder of Russian “photo-based art”. In 1954 he graduated from the Odessa Construction Institute with a degree in architecture. In the same year he moved to Novosibirsk, where his works were illustrated in the children's almanac “Golden Sparkles”, which was published by the Novosibirsk book publishing house. In addition, he illustrated political literature, prose and poetry of Novosibirsk writers. In 1955, he participated for the first time in the official exhibition of the Novosibirsk Union of Artists. In 1968 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1973 he moved from Novosibirsk to Moscow. He became close friends with a circle of Moscow artists: V. Pivovarov, I. Kabakov, E. Bulatov and others (was part of the “21” group). Since 1974, he has taken part in both unofficial and official domestic and foreign exhibitions. In 1991 he moved to Germany. Lived in the city of Offenbach am Main. The author's works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Fine Arts. A. S. Pushkin, the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Dresden State Museum and other museums in Russia and abroad, as well as in private collections.
