The portraits of top-marked political figures were on sale in Moscow.
The auction was conducted by Artemy Troitsky. Two members of the LDPR, Mr. Zhirinovsky and Mitrofanov were heatedly bargaining on the cheapest lots – photos in frames. Both photos were portraits of Vladimir Volfovich, though Mitrofanov made up his mind to buy all of them – for his home collection. And he did it – one photo for one hundred, and another one – for two hundred dollars. Zhirinovsky had run short of money.
The result of the auction became as follows: 69 pictures have been sold, 28 – have not been. None of those present have shown interest in purchase of “Session of the Federal Assembly” for one million dollars. The conductor noticed, that the demonstrated interest in art is a good reflection of the political situation – if a person stays on top of the Olympus, he is in demand. And vice versa. Putin was put up on wholesale: the charcoal-painted portrait of Putin – for $3300; Putin the sad, in dress coat – for $23.000; Putin the strict – for $35.000.
