Arkhipov Abram Efimovich (1862, the Ryazan Province –1930, Moscow).
The RSFSR People’s Artist (1927). Active member of Academy of Arts (1916). An academician (1898). Studied at Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture (1877–1883 and 1886–1888) under V.G. Perov, V.D. Polenov, V.E. Mayakovskiy. In 1884-1886 studied at Petersburg Academy of Arts. Visited France, Germany and Italy. Since 1912 frequently travelled to the Russian North. Was a member of the Association of Itinerants (since 1891) and one of the founders of the Union of Russian Artists (since 1904). Gave lessons at Moscow School of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture, open art studios and Higher Art and Technical Studios. The artist’s works are exposed at the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and in many regional museums.
