Belyutin Ely Mikhaylovich (1925-2012)
Russian artist and art theorist, one of the leaders of unofficial art. Received higher art education in Moscow
Art Institute (1942–1947), its teachers were A.V. Lentulov, P.V. Kuznetsov, L.A. Bruni Then he studied in graduate school at the Department of Painting and Drawing of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute, since 1950 he taught at various educational institutions and studios. Since 1954, he led the Experimental Studio of Painting and Graphics, created by the city association of artists of books and graphics. As a historian of painting, he published the books “The Pedagogical System of the Academy of Arts of the 18th Century” (1956),
“Russian art school of the first half of the 19th century” (1963). In November 1962, he took part in organizing an exhibition in the Manege dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. December 1, 1962 this exhibition was visited by N.S. Khrushchev, who was outraged by avant-garde works. This scandal was made by E.M. Belutina famous, his paintings began to be exhibited abroad. In 1970 he became a member of the Italian Academy of Contemporary Art.
The artist's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Georges Pompidou Center (Paris, France), in many regional museums, as well as in private collections in Russia and abroad.
