Russian artist, the master of graphics, representative of “Silent Art”. Studied at E.E. Shreider’s Studio (1901-1905) in Saint Petersburg, in New Painting School under M.V. Dobuzhinskiy and A. P. Ostroumova-Lebedeva (1913-1916).
Worked as a portrait painter, for magazines “Theatre and Art”, “Voice of Life”. Was the Member of the Union of “The World of Art”. The participant of the exhibitions since 1904. The works of the artist were presented at the exhibitions in New York, Venice, Leipzig, Sophia, and Warsaw.
His one-man shows started in 1924, 1939, 1946, 1949, 1961, 1962, and 1968.
He worked at the etching department of the Hermitage (1918-1930), lectured at the Higher Artistic and Theatric classes (1918-1922) and other Institutes.
Became one of the beginners of the Experimental lithograph studio of Leningrad Union of Artists.
The masterpieces of the artist are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, The State Russian Museum, The Academy of Arts’ Museum and all other museums.
