Gofman Oskar Adolphovich (1851, Derpt – 1912, St. Petersburg).
The most prominent Estonian realist painter of the late 19th – early 20th century. Studied at the Academy of Arts in D?sseldorf (1872-1877) under E. Dukker, then in Paris under F. Kormon. Member of the D?sseldorf Society of Aquafortists, honorable community scholar of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts since 1884, regularly took part in exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, the Society of Russian Watercolorists and the St. Petersburg Society of painters, the Autumn exhibitions in St. Petersburg – Petrograd in 1911 and 1914, as well as in the World Exhibitions in Antwerp (1885), Berlin (1886), Paris (1889) and an international exhibition in Vienna. His artworks can be found in the State Russian Museum, museums in Germany, England and Holland.
