Lurie Arkady Alexandrovich (1916 – 1990)
Soviet illustrator, graphic artist, book artist. Member Moscow organization of the Union of Soviet artists (1947), member of the USSR Union of artists, member of Union of journalists of the USSR (1961).
He studied at the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi at the graphic faculty under E. E. Lancer and O. A. Charlemagne (graduated with honors), then at the postgraduate school of the Moscow state art Institute named after V. I. Surikov (1939-1941) under D. S. Moore and N. E. Radlov. He illustrated more than three hundred books, including "the Plane is flying", "Transparent elephant", the collection "Malyshkin's book", "Two captains". He worked as an Illustrator in the publishing houses of the magazines "Murzilka", "Malysh", "Soviet writer", "Goslitizdat" and others. A. A. Lurie's book graphics are distinguished not only by a magnificent drawing and composition, but also by the expressiveness of artistic images and characters, each of which has its own character.
