Laktionov Aleksander Ivanovich

Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. People's Artist of the USSR. Winner of the Stalin Prize in 1948 for the painting "Letter from the Front" (1947, the Tretyakov Gallery). He studied at the Leningrad Academy of Arts (1932–1938), as well as in the postgraduate school of the Academy, in the workshop of I.I. Brodsky (1938–1944). Author of numerous thematic paintings and ceremonial portraits. He taught at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. The artist's works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in many regional museums.
