Ognev Georgiy Aleksandrovich

Ognev Georgiy Aleksandrovich (1925 - 2009)

Sculptor, member of the Union of Artists, member of the Central Board of the Friendship Society of Russia-Mongolia, participant in the Great Patriotic War. He graduated from the Leningrad Higher Art School. V. I. Mukhina (St. Petersburg State Art and Industry Academy named after A. L. Stieglitz). The author of more than forty works, among them portraits of N.I. Vavilova, V.S. Nemchinova, E.A. Bogdanova. As well as the author of the monument to Y. Ushanov (Ust-Kamenogorsk), a monument and a memorial plaque to the traveler N.M. Przhevalsky (Zaisan city, Zaysan district).

Description: This sculpture was made in duplicate on a special order from the Bronze Foundry in Mytishchi in 1971. The first copy was presented to Yumzhagiin Tsedenbal - state, political and party leader of the Mongolian People’s Republic, general secretary of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party, Marshal of the MPR in the presence of A.N. Kosygina and S.M. Budyonny - chairman of the society of Soviet-Mongolian friendship. The handing over took place during the visit of Tsedenbal to Moscow, on the occasion of the anniversary of the MPR. The second copy was in the collection of the sculptor's family.
