Strakhov Boris Borisovich (born in 1932)
Born in 1932 in St. Petersburg (Leningrad). In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Regional Art College in memory of 1905, majoring in theater artist-decorator. In 1964 he graduated from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute with a degree in graphic art. He worked as the main artist in the magazines: “Political Self-Education”, “In the World of Books”, “Soviet Military Review”. At the same time he worked as an illustrator and book designer at the publishing houses “Young Guard”, “Detgiz”, “Fiction”, “Soviet Writer”, “Printing”, “White City”. Illustrated and designed over 200 books. The representative of the realistic movement, is engaged in portraiture and illustrations for books. Many canvases of Boris Strakhov are inspired by ancient literature and mythology. Among them are watercolor illustrations for Heliodor's Ethiopics and Theseus' exploits. Member of foreign all-Union and Moscow exhibitions. He has repeatedly exhibited in the Union of Journalists, in the Moscow House of Nationalities, in the Central House of Arts. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists, the International Federation of Artists and the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Member of the Moscow Union of Journalists. He was awarded the medal of the defender of free Russia by presidential decree of August 18, 1993. In 2004 he was awarded a diploma of the All-Russian competition of architects "For maturity and skill." Elected chairman of the section of press artists of the Union of Journalists of Moscow.
