Soviet graphic artist, painter, poster artist, cartoonist, illustrator. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1948). Author of genre paintings on the theme of Soviet reality and the history of the revolution, well-known political posters. Known for his works in the genre of political satire and political posters. He worked in the magazines Krokodil, Ogonyok, Smena, Nedelya, newspapers Pravda, Izvestia and other publications. Paintings and graphic works of LS Samoilov are kept in various art museums of the former USSR, private collections in Russia, Great Britain, Spain, Portugal.
