Tkachenko Mikhail Stepanovich (1860, Kharkov – 1916, the Donetsk Region).
Ukrainian artist, painter and graphic painter, author of landscapes, genre pictures, numerous pictures and pastels. Studied at Academy of Arts under P. Chistyakov, V. Orlovsky, M. Klodt (1882-1887). Graduated from Academy of Arts with great golden medal and degree of first class artist. A pensioner of Academy of Arts in France. Studied at Cormon Academy in Paris (1888-1892). Together with S. Vasilkovsky, M. Berkos, N. Uvarov and A. Beketov by the order of architect V. Krichevsky worked at the interior of the building of Poltava zemstvo in Kharkov. An active participant of exhibitions. The main theme of creative work was marine landscapes. The works of M.S. Tkachenko are in art collections of Kharkov, Lvov, the Russian State Museum, many other museums and private collections. The works were put up for Sotheby’s and Christie’s auctions.
