Chebakov Nikita Nikanorovich

Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR (1951). Nikita Chebakov entered the Omsk Art College in 1932 and then studied in Moscow at the State Film Institute (VGIK) under F.Bogorodsky and Yu. Pimenov from 1939 to 1948. As a student, he helped design the scenery solutions for Sergei Eisenstein’s film John the Terrible. From 1948 on, the artist participated in All-Union Art Exhibitions and became famous for his picture V.I.Lenin Speaking in the Third Congress of the Young Communist League, for which he was awarded the State Prize of the USSR. The artist’s works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and in a number of Russian museums.
