At the 22nd of April Moscow Gallery “SOVCOM” successfully sold the collection of soviet and Russian artists. We told you about that these sales became a new spurt for Russian antique market because the estimates of some lots practically reached the world level.
From 139 lots 112 were sold that is more than 80%. The result of the sales is a very good sum $ 1 400 000. In the fight for the works of Russian artist took part more than 56 persons, who visited the auction, somebody bided in absence some by telephone.
The top lot and absolute winner of the sales was the work of Boris (Bera) Anisfeld (1879-1973) “Elegy” is estimated for 185 000 $ - 190 000 $, dated 1939. The final prices was more than the high frontline of the estimate $ 205 000.
Bright and rich of colour the work “Swings” by Philipp Malyavin also got an advanced estimate for $ 185 000 – 190 000. As a result the price of the work didn’t reach the estimate, but otherwise was sold for a very good price for $ 180 000.
One of the most interesting lots of the collection is the work of David Burliuk “Homage to Courbet”. The date of this masterpiece is unknown; about the provenance is known that the work belonged to private collection. In 2005 the work was sold at the Sotheby’s sales. SOVCOM gallery estimated the work for 77 000 -80 000 and lot was sold for $ 77 000.
Among the most remarkable lots it should be mentioned the work of the classic artist of sotsrealism S. Gerasimov “At the field work” dated 1940-1950es. The work was sold for $ 50 000 (estimate was $ 52 000 – 50 000). A great work at its size (180x 175 cm) by M. Birshtein “Lomonosov shows the mosaic “Plotavskaya battle” to Ekaterina the second” dated 1987 was sold for $ 45 000 but the expert estimated it for $ 48 000- 50 000.
