ANTIQUES. News. By Dmitriy Butkevich. NEZAVISIMAYA GAZETA. № 239, Fri, November 3rd, 2006.

A few days ago three large auctions were held in Moscow. Probably, the most impressive in history of its organizer was conducted by the SOVCOM Art Gallery.
Though the Saloon was in full blast, the gallery had about 90 visitors including, what is worthwhile to say, many famous dealers. And it can be assumed, that SOVCOM prices seemed rather acceptable to them. It is remarkable, that dealers showed particular interest in "Russian immigrants in France" and in "Paris school", i.e. Tarkhov, Lanskiy etc. and, according to gallery officials, have “swept away” almost everything. 143 lots out of 190 have been sold (a very high percentage!). Top lot of the auction – the huge work by Nickolay Milioti estimated at $1-1,1 mln. remained unsold (and it was to be expected since our market is not prepared to public announcement of such prices). Instead, the second lot – the watercolor painting by Kazimir Malevich – was auctioned off for 300.000. Zankovskiy and the magnificent Simkhovich got 100.000 each. The price for Nisskiy turned 85 and for Udaltsov – 55. All works by Birshteyn and almost every article by Romodanovskaya traditionally enjoyed good demand. A new SOVCOM’s section dedicated to porcelain articles was certainly worth seeing. It was a total sell-out: Soviet works were sold for initial prices and Russian ones got three times higher.
